About Us
Gwynn and Ryan Broome
Ryan began working with furniture at the age of 15. From Auction houses in Lubbock Texas, to antique furniture and upscale boutiques in Gruene, he has run the gamut on furniture experience! In the fall of 2008 he began working with The Moseleys. Learning in-depth technique and true restoration practices, Ryan enjoyed the apprenticeship with Bob and valued the years of knowledge Bob had to share. In 2011, the Moseleys began talking about their retirement future, and the future of the business. A unique foundation had been laid for Ryan to assume the responsibilities at the shop and take over the business full time. With love for the trade of restoration and a business degree from Texas State University, Ryan felt it was a great opportunity. With the blessing of the Moseley Family, Ryan officially took over The Furniture Restoration Place in May 2012. Ryan's mother, Gwynn Broome, eagerly jumped on board to provide office support, and restoration assistance in any way needed. The Broome Team is excited to offer the same great services and quality that the community has valued for years!
History
Wanda and Bob Moseley
The Furniture Restoration Place was founded by Bob & Wanda Moseley. Circa 1987 their son Matt was receiving treatment through a Brain Injury Recovery Program. The idea emerged to teach and employ program participants through a wood shop. Originally founded through Tangram Rehabilitative services, FRP served as a vocational training and employment site for individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries until 1998. The Moseley's then took the business into the general community and were unable to offer those same vocational and rehabilitative services. They were, however, able to continue providing a quality service at a fair price. Matt continued to work for FRP until the purchase of the business in 2012. Matt’s customer service with a smile and dedication to a clean shop are qualities the business will never lose!
We are eternally grateful to Bob and Wanda for their trust in us to move the Furniture Restoration Place forward. Bob is a valued teacher and mentor in the ways of woodworking and restoration and his knowledge and experience has been invaluable. Wanda’s tenacity on the business side and dedication to doing whatever the job called for, are traits that served FRP well for many years.
At our Grand Re-Opening in May 2013, Matt was presented with the "Golden Dust Pan" Award for years of service to the company. He was surprised and thrilled!
